The D'B's

Wow, you can take the d'Ablemont Burnes family anywhere! They are always game for anything, weather the weather with great attitudes, and really appreciate all the newness they encounter. It was so much fun having them visit us for a week in February.

They got to Guanajuato late on a rainy Saturday. Jos and I had spent the week before fretting about the weather, and sure enough, the weather was cold and rainy. It sucked! But we were not detered and set off on Sunday to an ex-hacienda outside of Dolores Hidalgo. It was an amazing place with about 20 giant bedrooms, a magical courtyard, horses and delicious food. And because it was a rainy week in February we literally had the place to ourselves. You can imagine the fun the kids had taking the place over!

We spent our time riding horses and bikes, walking the surrounds, playing games, reading. Heaven! Amy blew me away on the first day when we got on our horses to head out and she says, "This is great, my first time on a horse!" And there she was, going off into the wilds of Mexico with a guide who spoke no English with no idea what she was doing. Now that's being game for anything!

They spent a night on their own in San Miguel while we returned to school. We then spent the balance of their visit enjoying Guanajuato. Amy and I shook our tushes in Zumba. My friends there still talk about how good she was at it with the perfect dancer's body.
We showed them our school and got Ethan's perspective on the "interesting" approach to instruction. Orly went to a birthday party with Nanne and seemed to be able to handle the rapid fire spanish. It is amazing how great the Hurley kids accents are!
When the d'B's left on Saturday morning at 9am, I literally went to bed and slept until noon. Now that's a sign of an incredible visit!
