We decided to get a puppy because we figured it was the one chance for the kids to have that experience. Our Boston home just isn't conducive to potty training or chewing. And so that Benito could have a friend. And how they love each other!!
If any of you are interested in adopting a puppy, we would love to help you find one down here! There are so many wonderful, sweet, beautiful dogs and puppies available. Any breed, age, style you might desire, say the word, and I will make it happen!
We spent several weeks trying to decide on a name. I liked sticking with Mexican political figures (Pancho Villa would have been funny), but the kids weren't so keen. We tried some Aztec names but most didn't roll off the tongue (Xochiquetzalli meaning beautiful flower just didn't stick). We finally ended with Memo, short for Guillermo. When Jos got back and heard it he decided it was also short for the Memory of Tuluma. Sweet.
Already Memo has brought us joy and his share of adventure. My first trip with him to the vet started with hailing a taxi. One pulled over with two people in the back. Holding Memo in my arms, I opened the door and whacked myself in the head with the corner of the door and got in the front seat dripping with blood. The cab driver looked stricken and tried to get me cleaned up. I kept telling him I was fine. We drove the windy roads to drop the other passengers, and soon after they were out, Memo vomited all over the cab. Again, the driver looked stricken. And ready to get rid of us!The cats seem to have forgiven us for bringing another canine into the house, and are hopeful that Nanne wins out on her wish to get a hamster next!
